Towel Forts- Not Just For Kids

by Lifeboat Admin ,

Here at Alluretex, we hope that everyone has magical memories romping around homemade forts as children, using any materials that you could find to build decadent, extravagant playpens of adventure. So who says that, that fun is just for kids? No matter what your age, there is no reason why this magic should end. Alluretex was founded on an ethos of comfort, affordability and beautiful variety. But beyond that, we’re driven by the adventures and experiences that your Alluretex products provide you and your loved ones.

What better place to start than with the protocol for a successful towel fort experience? Beyond the giggles and an awesome place to hang out in, you may just find that building a towel fort is a valuable bonding and learning experience.

Step one- Let’s pick out your towels. No small feat given the extensive variety available to you. One of our favorites for something like this is the Bright Days Pool & Beach Towel. You can buy it in packs of four, for less than $50 total. The main reason we like this style so much is that you can paint the rainbow with it, each color more bright and bold than the last. How’s that for a fort that will stand out in the neighborhood? Other great options include the Elite Bath Sheet if water-related fun is anticipated in said fort or the New Plush Luxury Towel if comfort and texture are most important to you.

Now that you have your materials, so to speak, it’s time to start the construction process. If you have young ones around the house, let them help design what the fort will look like. It’s best to rig your fort around existing furniture so that you minimize the mess and the eventual re-design of the room when your fort is retired.

First spread a layer of towels on the floor. These can help with cushioning during the day and can double as comfy blankets at night. Next you’ll want to rig the ceiling of your fort, probably utilizing couches or chairs. Make sure that they’re rigged nice and tight by winding them around any wooden bars of the furniture, or tucking the towel ends behind couch/chair cushions. You want your towel to be taut so that you have as much room as possible within your fort.

Now it’s time to decorate! The sky is the limit, this is your space to be creative and enjoy each other’s company. Fairy lights are cheap and easy to set-up so that you have light for evening activities. Pillows are a must for relaxing and lounging. Try to use minimal furniture, use your imagination.

Once you’re happy with the aesthetics of your fort, it’s time to actually experience all that it has to offer. Grab some board games or supplies for arts and crafts. Sit in a circle and tell scary stories. Remember that the most important piece of the experience of a towel fort is the company of those around you.

HIGH QUALITY TOWELS

Cotton: The Real Star of the Show

by Lifeboat Admin ,

You’ve probably noticed, year over year, a greater and greater degree of interest in what goes into what you consume. More specifically—what are the ingredients in what you’re eating? What was the process that created that Oscar winning film? And most important to us- what materials are going into clothes, accessories, bedding and towels that touch your skin.

There are a bundle of reasons for this. Cheaper materials can irritate your skin, they’ve spent less time in the spinning process so the texture is more rough and harder on sensitive skin. As more and more materials enter the market, there is a higher and higher chance of allergens in these rogue materials introduced into products. Not disclosing these can be a nightmare for materials companies, not just for their bottom line, but also for their company culture. After all, if every company operates along the same ethos as Alluretex, your comfort and happiness is the number one priority.

So today we profile the real star of our towels. Yes, yes, besides you- Cotton! It’s a brand all on its own at this point, but for many years it took a back seat and let the brands take all the credit. Cotton is a fluffy, staple fiber. It grows in a boll, also known as a protective case, wrapped around the seeds of cotton plants. The Cotton bolls maximize the ground that the seeds will cover.

So, where does Cotton come from? It’s native to the tropical and subtropical areas of the world, specifically the Americas, India and Africa. Fun fact for the day? Mexico has the widest variety of Cotton species. Australia has the second and Africa has the third. You may think of old movies that took place in the southern states of the United States, but cotton was domesticated both in the Old World and the New World. The name is actually Arabic and dates all the way back to the 1400s.

There are four types of cotton species, which are grown for commercial use. They are Gossypium Hirsutum (native to Central America, Mexico, Florida and the Carribean), Gossypium Barbadense (South America), Gossypium Arboreum (India and Pakistan), and Gossypium Herbaceum (Southern Africa and the Arabian Penninsula). We know that you’re familiar with the crayon box rainbow of colored towels available here but some of it indeed stems from the natural color of cotton. The cotton fibers occur naturally in white, brown, pink and green.

Okay, okay, but cotton is those little fluff balls, how does that translate into our favorite Alluretex towels? The fiber itself is spun into thread or yarn. Only then can it become the soft and breathable textile in our Elite Large Hand Towel.

Currently about 25 MILLION tonnes (or 110 million bales) of cotton are produced in a single year. This is 2.5% of the Earth’s arable land. China is the largest producer, but the United States has been the number one exporter for a number of years.

Luckily Alluretex takes our products seriously. You can always reach out with any questions about the materials in any of our products.

Alluretex’s Hot New Product- Slippers

by Lifeboat Admin ,

They need no introduction. No spin and no marketing shpiel. They pretty much announce themselves. In fact, comfy, cozy slippers may just sell themselves. So consider this not a description of how amazing they are, but rather an outlet for us to wax lyrical about the difference that they’ve made in the Alluretex team members’ lives.

More often than not, you’re on your feet for most of the day. You may not be running marathons (and if you are, extra kudos to you), but you lose track of the ground that you cover, the pressure that you put on your overworked feet.

They’re an under appreciated part of your body. Sure, there’s a market for foot massages and pedicures; But we shove them into uncomfortable shoes, use them to kick and drive force against large objects and follow them around every minute, of every hour of every day. You could technically say that they lead us through life.

So why don’t we give them the tender love and care that they deserve? If we haven’t enough in the past, it’s time that we start. And Alluretex wants to drive that change with our Adjustable Spa Slipper. These babies aren’t just for massage parlors and sport clubs. They’re the kind of feel good that you’ll want to experience as soon as you walk in the door, that you dream about as you count down the minutes until the end of the day. There will be no point for fluffy carpeting, no use for comfortable rugs, you’ll be able to gallivant around on any type of flooring because these slippers are so dang comfortable.

All right, that was more of a sell than anticipated. But we haven’t even mentioned the price yet. Anything you throw out right now, based on the benefits listed, would be exponentially higher than you’d imagine. These lovely, dynamic, versatile slippers are only $2.30 a pair. You’d be silly not to get the 10-pack for less than $25. Personally, the team members here would choose the 10-pack and wear each and every one. However for those more savvy or philanthropic than us, this is an amazing offer for a variety of businesses, organizations and teams.

Their style contributes to their versatility. A pure and relaxing white works with every branding scheme, works with every interior design scheme, works with every outfit that you might wear. It’s also a blank slate for artistic fun. Bring these slippers to a decorating party with your favorite group of friends and watch the personalization in action. You can paint, you can draw, you can even bedazzle, whatever you want to make these, your own.

Here at Alluretex we tend to geek out pretty hard over all of our products and as you can tell by the above monologue, this is no different. Over the coming weeks we’ll continue to share with you our recommendations, tried and tested and in our minds, just perfect for you and your loved ones.
